Down in Brisbane, I managed to visit my favourite garden once again. The Roma Street Parklands is a spot I love spending time at, and even more so if I'm lucky enough to take my grandchildren with me.
We got to spend a few hours there this time and we all had a thoroughly lovely morning. In the photo above, you can see them enjoying a delicious drink of Russelia flower nectar. That's something I told them about when we first visited the Parklands a few years ago. Now, every time we visit, they have to stop and take a little taste! It's become a bit of a tradition.
Anyway, as usual, I took loads of photos of various corners and plants at the Parklands, and I just had to share a few in this slideshow.
It looks like a beautiful place and I'm happy you had a great time. It's the kind of place my girls don't want to visit with me because they say I take too many photos. :)
ReplyDeleteI get the same complaint from my grandchildren, Gunilla. I let them take photos too, which helps lessen the complaints, lol!
DeleteÉ um jardim muito bonito mesmo!

Thank you kindly, Simone.
DeleteGlad you had a lovely bread with your family Bernie. Grandchildren are such a treat and blessing.
ReplyDeleteI nearly fell off my chair though - Russelia nectar tasting is a tradition in our family!! It all started when I was a very young child and was taught by my grandparents the joy of taste-testing the big (R) plants in their garden, and I have passed it on to mine.
You've inspired me to grow one in this new garden of mine!
Have a lovely weekend Bernie.
Grandchildren are such a blessing, Rose, I agree with you there! I'm so very glad I got to be a Grandma at such a relatively 'young' age!!!
DeleteIt sounds as though our grandparents were all in on the secret of how fabulous Russelia nectar tastes. I was introduced to the nectar tasting tradition by my Grandma as well, just as you were introduced to it by your grandparents.
I'm lucky enough to have a few Russelias growing in my garden here, and when my grandchildren do visit me, taste-testing is always the first thing they have to do after giving my lots of hugs!!
What an amazing park to be! Wish I could be there!! Did your grandchildren detect the fragrance of that big solandra bloom? Now you get me excited about the nectar of russelia haha... I must take a sip from those in my garden :-D You have a great day and a good weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI've had a sip of my penstemon flowers before, sweet. I must remember to share with the girls :) Absolutely gorgeous gardens!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful trip...thanks for sharing its beauty
