... and this!
Now I didn't want to get my hopes up, but I couldn't help but smile. There was that delicious, delectable hint of rain in the air. After the searing temperature the last few days, there was also a welcome coolness and freshness to the air.
From somewhere in the deep dark depths of my Walt Disney movie watching soul, came the memory of a song called "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah, Zip-A-Dee-Day!" I've been humming it ever since.
The rain did fall. Well, I won't get carried away with the use of the word 'rain'! I really should say 'sprinkles of teeny tiny water drops'. Yes I went strolling under those dark grey clouds and I think at least five or so raindrops splashed my nightie in that ten-minute stroll. How wonderful.
There was a splash of moisture on the pavers out in the courtyard. There was a smattering of little puddles on the verandah. There were some gorgeous raindrops sitting on the Crossandra bloom. It didn't last too long before there was a hint of blue sky once more, but I'm feeling a little more cheerful today.
Drop by to visit Mary and join in her Mosaic Monday meme, and feel free to join in with the song that's been in my head this morning.

Glad you got some rain! And lovely photos and mosaic as usual.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear the air is fresher and your sprits are lifted …..if I could just shake the mental image of you doing a Gene Kelly singing in the rain in your nighty round the courtyard garden.
ReplyDeleteHere in Ireland the forcast is for 2 days of non-stop rain. Oh for some dry weather!
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how you feel! Fortunately for us in this part of India, it rained quite heavily last week.
ReplyDeleteWhat is interesting is that here on Long Island, we finally had a day of sunshine! All it has done for weeks is rain. I wonder what the devine plan is regarding the distribution of H2O? It either rains too much and we get flooding, as in last month's hurricane here, or there are patches of gardens around the world that need rain so badly. Here's hoping that your plants get what they need to bloom. Autumn here is one of the most beautiful times of the year, but the rainy days made the pumpkins rot from the inside out in the north east, so they had to be trucked in from other states for the kids. Have a lovely week fromthe Jarvis Garden. Cheers Lori
ReplyDeleteIt's early here and Zip-A-Dee-Doo Dah is a boost to the spirits as I begin this new day!!! Needing rain here so your pictures are just beautiful! Wishing you a grand day! Cathy
ReplyDeleteOne of my husband's favorite songs! Cold here in the thirties, pretty soon frost. I am putting the garden to bed a little each day, the roses keep on blooming, redoing the north side of house, also planting bulbs.

After watching my newly planted bulbs wash away in 3 inches of rain the other day, your pictures of cloudy skies made me thing grrrr. But it's wonderful that some moisture found you in your dry tropics garden! Here's hoping for more (for you, not for us).
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful it is when the first rains fall - so refreshing of the spirit. I am always amazed how different our seasons are from one side of Australia to the other.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog Bernie. You really must visit the Fitzgerald National Park one day if you get a chance - in spring of course! I have no idea why it took us so long to get there!
we are enjoying a little bit of rain up here too - the plants love it - I am sure they know the difference between rainwater and town water!
ReplyDeleteHi Bernie,
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice when the rain falls and the air is filled with freshness. I can see why you'd sing.
I love those palms!
Happy Spring.
