They're Back! ... The Year In Photographs ... May 23, 2013

The Agile Wallabies have returned to our yard, and there's been quite a large group of them grazing on the grass out there.

A couple of them have now resorted to not only eating the grasses growing above the ground, but they've begun to dig out the rootstock.

This particular mother is giving a life-long lesson to her tiny joey about where to find the really delicious treats!

Friday Flower Flaunt ... On A Drizzly Overcast End-of-Autumn Friday

We've had rain falling softly from the grey sky overnight and most of this morning.  It's still very grey and gloomy outside, so there's probably more on the way.  We don't usually get much rain at this time of year, as we're now into our long dry season, but I remember something similar happening last year so perhaps we really are starting to see some major changes in our weather patterns.

As I wandered around the garden this morning taking a few photos, everything was splashed with raindrops.

Happy Mother's Day To All!

I just had to wish all you lovely Mums out there a Happy Mother's Day. 

My two boys are far from home now, but it was wonderful to hear the sound of their voices over the phone this morning.  They are both such beautiful people and they make me so proud.

Flower Flaunt on this End-of-Autumn Friday ... May 10, 2013

Our last month of Autumn seems to be flying past so quickly.  The garden is still a little short on colour at the moment, most likely the result of a disappointing wet season and my lack of time to get out and help it along.

Anyway, I do have something new to share this week.  My Rosebud Salvia, Salvia involucrata, (or at least that's what I think is is!) that grows under the pergola has started to bloom once more.

Rosy pink flowers will soon start opening from the large rounded buds that are appearing over the shrub at the moment.  I've let the bush get too leggy though, and I will need to trim it back a lot when blooming is over.

Elsewhere,

there are still a few Portulaca blooms in a couple of pots,

the Angelonia angustifolias carry on blooming,

as does the Turnera ulmifolia,

the Vriesea bromeliad,

the Thunbergia erecta 'Tru Blu',

and the Calliandra haematocephalas.
